The adventure begins, nearly

Considering the last blog post was almost exactly 2 months ago, surprisingly little with regards to planning this trip has taken place until the last 2 weeks. I am tempted to give "the trip" a name reflecting the size of the "mission" I am hoping to undertake. I think Operation Carpathia is particularly suiting after the ship that rescued the Titanic survivors, as I fear at some point I may need to be rescued therefore surely a better omen to name the trip after a famous rescue vessel, surely?!

What happened in those two months? Well I got back then went almost immediately up to Scotland for a few days to see the grandparents. Most enjoyable!! Then proceeded to go on a fabulous Christmas skiing holiday (Meribel in the 3 vallees with the family and the Burge cohort, great snow, weather and general atmosphere in the chalet (killer combo!!). Then spent New Year with friends, struggling to remember exactly what happened, however I can inform you it was one hell of a party!! The I spent a couple of weeks taking stock of life/playing sizable quanities of new computer games. Hmm productive. Although to be fair, I hadn't really "done nothing" since well before A-level examination season. A well earned rest me thinks! I then went on a rather impromptu skiing holiday again with a friend of mine, again to the 3 vallees in France but in a slightly cheaper but livelier place called Val Thorens. Some seriously good snow once again and even better weather.

Since then? Well I managed to sort out a bit of work and organisation for this trip and a few trips over to see friends of mine in various Universities (Bristol, Exeter,Cambridge and Oxford no less!). Great to see them before I went away! Then in the past couple of weeks I have been sorting out visas for India, Nepal, Syria and Vietnam staying with a friend of mine in London near the embassies who is studying at RADA (royal academy of dramatic arts). Great laugh!!

The plan for the trip? Ill summarize, don't want to have nothing to talk about on the trip, leave a few surprise!! Turkey to Syria to Jordan to Israel to Jordan all by land. Then fly to India. Then travel to Nepal by land, back to India, then fly to Vietnam. Vietnam to Laos to Thailand to Cambodia by land. Fly to either South America, Australia or USA (no visa required either of the last three, yes thats right, very few needed visas in the whole of South America!)

Well next time you here from me, I shall be Istanbul!
